<p>Superstore Shuffle challenges players to help Flo guide customers through the Progressive Superstore checkout process.  This time management game helps introduce players to Progressive concepts such as bundling and Snapshot through a fun and engaging game mechanic.</p>

<p>Challenge mode allows players to pit their time-management skills against fellow players throughout the world.  The daily high score receives a secret bobblehead in their breakroom and a special place in the leaderboard for all to see.</p>

<p><em> </em>Progressive Insurance returned in 2011 and asked Mondo Studios to update the wildly popular Route-Rageous game to run alongside their new Snapshot discount campaign.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.mondostudios.com/wp/?p=52">original Route-Rageous</a> game attracted over a million plays with a typical time per player of 6-10 minutes of brand exposure and was a finalist for Use of Gaming in the 2010 OMMA Awards.</p>
<p>For the new Snapshot Edition, we added 10 new Snapshot-themed levels along with an adorable caricature of Flo the Progressive Girl.</p>

<p>Brand experts Mondo Studios have worked with leading companies, such as Purina, Honda and Kellogg’s, on casual game projects.</p>
<p>Mondo’s executive creative director Phill Simon has some professional advice for companies who want to make successful branded games.</p>
<p>He says, it’s about doing the hard work before you begin development:</p>
<p>THINGS TO DO WHEN ASSESSING A BRAND INTEGRATED GAME PROJECT<br />
“The first things to have in mind when developing brand integrated games are who are the stakeholders, and how will your game be authentic to the brand/brand mission. Our clients can be from the brand, agency, or portal, and sometimes all three. Often they can have subtly different agendas, needs and goals. To be successful you have to address and meet all of their needs. As for the brand itself, without authentic brand understanding your title is likely to just feel like a brand name slapped onto an otherwise unrelated game.</p>
<p>WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE MOVING ON TO GAME DEVELOPMENT<br />
“Establish what the purpose of the specific game is before moving forward on a project. Often there’s not enough thought upstream on a project and it then becomes easy to go off track from what the client needs. Have answers to basic questions: Is this an awareness campaign? Are there specific calls to action (sign up, click through, etc)? What is the brand hoping to do with the game? It’s almost always about engagement, but at the end of that experience there is an opportunity to carry on a further dialogue with the player/consumer. You need to know what that should be.</p>
<p>DO YOUR HOMEWORK<br />
“Next, set up a good media plan early. Where is the game going to live? Sure, online or mobile, but where? Facebook? Casual gaming sites? On a portal like MindJolt, or Yahoo? Is it going to be in an app store? Each platform has challenges and opportunities both in development and in the marketing of the game. Set up a plan you can map to and address things like PR, broadcast, paid media online. There is cross over between platforms but you can’t just assume this, or that you’ll just ‘re-skin’ a game. In addition to the development challenges, each platform often has different user demographics and psychographics. Do your homework ahead and your opportunity for success doubles.</p>
<p>HAVE A CLEAR GOAL FOR MEASURING SUCCESS<br />
“The next thing you have to know before you get to the development stage is how are you, and the brand, going to measure success? Clients want clearly articulated goals, but don’t always know what to ask for. Your success will be measured in one way or another so lead that conversation. Whether it’s number of plays, time spent playing, 100,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook, or getting 10,000 folks to sign-up for an email program, figure it out early and work toward that goal.</p>
<p>“In a recent project with Purina our goal was positive brand impact. Even though that’s harder to measure than minutes played, there is usually a way. In the Purina case, Dynamic Logic conducted post-game surveys to measure the game’s positive brand impact. It’s also important to be exacting in your measurement. Rather than measure 100 things all with variables, pick a few things and be specific.</p>
<p>SET EXPECTATIONS<br />
“Lastly, and this speaks to measurement but also to the development process overall, don’t manage expectations, set expectations, and set them early on. If you’re disciplined this will help you aspire to great work and more often than not you’ll beat your client’s own goals.”</p>

<p>We created Monte Carlo Solitaire, a pair-matching card game (using a deck of 52 playing cards) where the object is to remove pairs from the play area.  </p>
<p>With high-quality graphics and animation and pleasing music scores, this fun and compelling social game stands out from the crowd.</p>

<p>Casual games are a good means of improving brand awareness because they do so indirectly, says the developer behind a casual game with over one million impressions.</p>
<p>“Casual gaming allows many people to interact with a brand while really having fun. It’s a way for an audience to interact with a brand on a daily basis without overt ‘buy this’ pressure,” says Phill Simon, executive creative director of Mondo Studios.</p>
<p>“Typically, players will spend 10 to 15 minutes enjoying their gameplay &#8211; all the while being gently reminded that the game features a product.</p>
<p>Mondo Studios have produced <em>Route-Rageous</em> for client Progressive Insurance. The game has already been played over one million times across Yahoo! Games, WildTangent and MSN, and recently arrived on Facebook and iPhone.</p>
<p>“<em>Route-Rageous</em> has elevated awareness of the Progressive brand to a large and devoted online, social and mobile game-playing audience.</p>
<p>“At the end of the day clients choose us to engage audiences and realize significant and measurable brand impact. Our client Nestle Purina conducted a significant consumer study on the brand impact of our <em>Wonderland Quest</em> game for their Friskies brand. The measured positive impact led to the production and recent release of <em>Wonderland Quest II</em>.</p>
<p>Mondo Studios was formed in 2005, as a splinter group from Mondo Media’s work-for-hire game cinematics and marketing division. Mondo Media make the popular Happy Tree Friends online cartoon.</p>
<p>“Our individual backgrounds in brand integrated entertainment made [casual games] a natural expansion of our business. We each also have a passion for making entertaining experiences that resonate with large audiences which is essential in casual games.”</p>

<em>Release Wonderland Quest II for Friskies’ Industry-Leading Cat Foods</em></p>
<p><strong>October 22, 2010</strong> (San Francisco, CA) – <strong>Mondo Studios</strong>, the creator of engaging multi‐platform brand integrated games, today announced the release of Wonderland Quest II, the second in a series of compelling interactive games developed for Nestlé Purina PetCare Company that are inspired by Friskies dry cat food and the feline dining experience. The new game was developed after compelling research demonstrated the significant positive brand impact of the original Wonderland Quest.</p>
<p>Wonderland Quest II tours four fantastical worlds that are inspired by Friskies dry cat food.  Each world provides a different variety and represents a unique experience.  The object of the game is to find the hidden objects in each of the four worlds. The original Wonderland Quest, which was developed for both online and mobile (iPhone) platforms, has been played more than 2.6 million times for an average of 10 minutes per session.</p>
<p>“Friskies cat foods deliver multi‐sensory experiences that feed cats’ senses with a unique variety of flavors and texture combinations that cats love,” said Ryan Gass, Friskies Assistant Brand Manager, Nestlé Purina PetCare.  “Mondo Studios understands why consumers and their cats have an affinity for Friskies.   What they delivered were two compelling casual games that both allow us to reach and entertain our consumers.”</p>
<p>To evaluate the effectiveness of Mondo Studios’ brand integrated games, a research study of consumers was commissioned by Purina and conducted by Dynamic Logic. The study tested the real brand impact of the first Wonderland Quest game on purchase intent and brand perception. The results of the study found that:</p>

<li>Wonderland Quest positively influenced the purchase intent of Friskies dry cat food among buyers and non‐buyers of Friskies</li>
<li>Among Friskies buyers, the game had a positive impact on brand loyalty and influenced the purchase intent of specific varieties of Friskies cat foods</li>
<li>Among most groups the game also enhanced the Friskies brand perceptions of taste, variety and mealtime experience</li>
</ul>

<p>Suave was looking for a series of games to match their innovative new campaign.  Mondo Studios created three fun and extremely popular game mechanics wrapped cohesively up in one neat package.</p>
<p>All three games were released in tandem with Suave’s new campaign, highlighting the three refreshing new body wash and hand and body lotion scents.</p>

<p>The first game, Bubble Blast, was created to run alongside Suave Body Care’s new body wash campaign.  A match-3 game with a twist, Bubble Blast challenges players to create matches of 3 or more identical Suave Bubbles.  Use your mouse to move and aim the Suave Body Wash bottle along the bottom of the screen.  Click to float a bubble up toward the chains of bubbles.  Fill up all of the fragrance meters to complete each level.  When a cluster of three or more bubbles is formed they all burst, earning you points.</p>

<p>The second game, Finding Bliss, highlighted Suave Body Care’s new line of scented hand and body lotions.  Finding Bliss challenges players to use the letters to spell as many words as you can before time runs out.  Each round you will be presented with seven letters.  Use these letters to spell as many words as you can before the timer runs out.  To spell a word, click on the letters in order.  Press the ENTER button to enter the word.  The SHUFFLE button rearranges the 7 available letters and the CLEAR button empties your current selection.  If you are stuck, tap the HINT button to cycle through the vowels on the board.  The words you find will appear in the spaces above.  You score 50 points per letter.  Earn 700 extra bonus points for finding the special Bliss words.</p>

<p>Last, but certainly not least, Pick a Pair was created to round out the entire campaign by highlighting Suave Body Care’s new matching body wash and hand and body lotions scents.  Based on the widely popular solitaire mahjong mechanic, Pick Me Up challenges users to try and match the matching tiles.  Clear the screen of tiles by matching pairs of tiles. Only tiles that do not have anything on top, to the left or to the right can be selected.  Remove pairs by selecting matching tiles.</p>
